Monroe did, in fact, visit Dunbar’s church and spoke with him, and she posted the update on TikTok. “Visited your favorite Appalachian grandpa this morning for his Sunday service. This was what he wanted to share with you,” said Monroe.

Dunbar described the series of events, viral video, and influx of donations as “awesome” and “overwhelming.” He said, “I didn’t plan it.”

“God has given the church an opportunity, a platform, to touch the world,” said Dunbar as he explained that any funds received will go directly to the community’s needs.

A Church’s Negative Response To Help a ‘Hungry Baby’ Goes Viral

Monroe posted a TikTok video of one of the dozens of calls she made, this time to Living Faith Christian Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She chose to have a recording of a baby crying in the background of the call.

After being transferred to another staff person, Monroe pleaded her fictitious case. “We don’t have any formula around, darling. I’m sorry, none. No diapers, anything for babies,” was the reply.

People at Living Faith Christian Center “believe every person is important to God and, therefore, we are committed to serve, reach and touch people’s lives with the message of hope and the love of God.”

“We serve our community through many outreaches as the church is not limited to the walls of the building,” the church’s website says.

According to the Shreveport Times, Bishop Raymond Johnson mentioned the viral TikTok video and referred to Monroe as “low” and having the “spirit of a witch.”

“The person who goes around calling churches and putting the voice of a baby crying in the background. And I say, really the person is low,” said Johnson during his sermon. “So, you know, like I teach these men over here, folk wanna apologize. I don’t apologize to the devil.”

“Sometimes, Christians get so weak, you forgot we supposed to rebuke evil,” he added. “So if you could pretend to have a crying baby to try to call churches to trick people into things.”

Johnson went on to describe the many ways his church serves the needs of the community.

“And I say, we in the middle of feeding people, how you gone do your little dirty deed? And you know, it’s just the spirit of a witch. It’s a witch,” Johnson continued. “And my Bible say he do not allow that thing to live. So you have to watch when you fooling with God.”
