ChurchLeaders asked Trip Lee for an update on his health and how people can be praying for him. “The Waiting Room” rapper has been open about his journey dealing with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)—an incurable illness that causes extreme exhaustion.

“That is something that is kind of always up and down,” Trip Lee shared. “I appreciate your prayers. Year after year, what I’m praying for is that God would help me to continue to fight for joy in him [and] continue to trust him. I think that has shaped a lot of how I write my music.”

Trip Lee explained, “Someone asked me why lament is such an important part of these worship songs or the songs that I write. And I think it’s in part because it almost feels fake not to acknowledge when we’re talking about how hard life is, when we’re talking about how good God is.” He said, “I think it has really shaped the way I see the world and the way that I try to serve people in the way that I write music.”

So, Trip Lee requested, “Just keep praying that God would help me to navigate that well and that God would help me to respond in a way that helps me to serve other people better.”

Tripp Lee Releasing New Songs on Jan. 30

Trip Lee will release two songs from his highly anticipated project on Friday, Jan. 30.

“The two songs serve as both an invitation and a declaration, pointing listeners toward the beauty, weight, and nearness of God while setting the tone for a worship project rooted in theology, honesty, and congregational expression,” a press release states.

The project’s title track, “For Your Glory,” and the single “Draw My Eyes” will be available for listeners to preview ahead of the full EP’s release on Feb. 13.

“I’m so glad people get to hear these two songs first,” Trip Lee said. “I feel like they capture the heart of the whole EP. I wrote ‘For Your Glory’ as a reminder that God is at work even in tough seasons, while ‘Draw My Eyes’ is a plea for focus on God in a world full of distractions. Both songs point to the fact that we can lament and praise in the same breath.”

Look for Trip Lee to hit the road in 2026 as he hopes to bring “BRAG Worship” to a city near you. Watch the full interview below.
