With more than 7,000 interactions, Allen’s post struck a chord with many who are longing for marriage.
“This is the best dating advice I’ve ever heard,” Nancy said. “Say it!!”
Marla shared her own testimony.
“I didn’t marry until in my late 30’s not because I didn’t want to, I was praying and seeking God, focused on Him, doing all the ‘things’ that people in the church tell you as a single to do. Nothing, crickets ya’ll, crickets,” she said. “The Lord told me to stop looking for what I wanted & pray for what I needed!”
“God was giving me time to grow up & stop being selfish (marriage is so not about self),” Marla said. “I met my husband of 11 years & he is nothing like what I wanted, but everything the Lord knew I needed! Not sure if this helps anyone, but I feel you single ladies.”
“It is, indeed, crappy and tiring,” Brian said. “Grace and peace to all who are here and feel this deeply.”
“Relationship status aside, I would love for the Church to talk more about the waiting, the suffering and how to believe God is still good even when you feel like He doesn’t hear you,” said Caroline.
“Our soul and only purpose on this side of the dirt is to partner with God in building the kingdom,” Julie said. “To be disciple makers. If your heart isn’t on board with that, you aren’t ready to date.”
Jennie Allen’s New Book To Release in March 2026
Allen is preparing to release a new book that explores spiritual identity and the lies that shape personal beliefs.
God offers us a true, wholesome identity in him—that we’re his beloved children. But, from Day 1, Satan attempts to rob each person of this truth and replace it with life-altering lies.
“What if a core lie has been sabotaging your life- wouldn’t you want to know it? Wouldn’t you want to fight it?” Allen asked in reference to her upcoming book, “The Lie You Don’t Know You Believe: How To Find It, Fight It, and Live Free,” which releases March 3, 2026.

Allen suggests there are “three core lies everyone believes,” with one “running your life.” While promoting the book on Instagram, she said everyone is “fighting back against the lies—and it starts now.”
“Guys- the moment I decided to write this book I was sitting across from my daughter who was believing an obvious lie and yet she truly believed it was true,” Allen said, “and here’s the thing…in all that longing to see her be free I realized omg I have been believing that same lie my whole life.”
