Cities Church Calls Anti-ICE Protest That Disrupted Worship Service ‘Shameful’ and ‘Unlawful’

“Church buildings are meant to be places of peace and solace, where worshipers can hear and live out this message,” leaders added. The church said it is calling on local, state and national leaders to protect this fundamental right and is evaluating next steps with legal counsel.

SBC President Clint Pressley expressed his thoughts on the incident Monday during an interview with Newsmax host Todd Starnes. “It is infuriating to think that a worship service was disrupted as it was,” he said. “A peaceful, God-honoring, family-oriented worship service and looking at the video, you know, I’m having to work through, just pray through, being absolutely enraged.”

In reference to reports that the Department of Justice has launched an investigation into the protest, Pressley said, “I hope that they will make arrests. I hope that they will have justice for what happened.”
