Matt Chandler Will Join Mark Driscoll and Eric Metaxas at Conference Featuring ‘40+ Geniuses’

An investigation cited Driscoll with “arrogance, responding to conflict with a quick temper and harsh speech, and leading the staff and elders in a domineering manner.” Recently, similar stories have emerged out of Trinity, leading some critics to accuse Driscoll of running that church like a cult. Notably, in 2014 Matt Chandler and Acts 29 removed Mars Hill and Driscoll from the Acts 29 network, saying that to keep them would be “untenable and unhelpful.”

In 2013, Driscoll also faced a plagiarism scandal and admitted that “mistakes were made.” Driscoll’s May 12 Theos Conference presentation is titled “Real Apostacy: 4 Ways to Deny the Faith.”

A spokesperson from Chandler’s congregation tells ChurchLeaders: “When Matt Chandler was asked to be part of this year’s online Theos Conference, he was honored to join and unaware of the other participants. Matt believes that conferences like these serve as an outlet for different viewpoints and voices to be heard and discussed.”
