As the images have circulated on social media, Daniel Defense has been sharply criticized.

“The Republicans talk about ‘child grooming’ when it comes to the LGBTQIA+ community, but gloss over the fact that they, literally, groom their children to worship guns from an early age as status symbols and signs of masculinity, brainwashing them to become killers,” said one person who retweeted the image of the young boy.

Another suggested that Daniel Defense should be criminally liable for the 21 Texas deaths.

“Chilling,” said another.

Executive Vice President of Daniel Defense and wife of founder Marty Daniel, Cindy Daniel, also launched The Double D Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is “to protect the Second Amendment by growing the number of Americans involved in shooting sports, who understand the fundamentals of firearm safety, and who share the core belief that the Second Amendment Defends the Rest.”

“[I]t’s imperative for all armed citizens to know that our right to bear arms has and will continue to protect our other God-given inalienable rights,” the foundation’s website says.

“Having worked in the firearms industry for over twenty years, I’ve learned that a lot of ‘anti-gunners’ are largely misinformed,” writes Cindy Daniel in a letter from the foundation, going on to pin the blame for anti-gun sentiments on “today’s youth,” many of whom have never fired a gun.

Daniel goes on to write, “At the Double D Foundation, we believe that shooting sports participation can have an extremely positive impact on young people and that the right to defend one’s self is a basic human right.”
