The author of “Radical: Taking Back Your Faith From the American Dream,” Platt has long been an advocate for simple, sacrificial living, as well as international missions. Before becoming pastor of McLean Bible Church in Vienna, Virginia, he served as president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s International Mission Board.
In 2022, Platt shared with his church that his conviction for adoption was strengthened by Psalm 127, which describes children as “a heritage from the Lord.”

“As I was meditating and praying about how children are a blessing, specifically a quiver full of children are a blessing,” Platt said, “I began to think, ‘If that’s true, I believe this. Then why would I not want more blessings?’”
