Grudem Sees Two Possibilities for Trump’s Political Legacy
“Systematic Theology” (1994), also written by Grudem, is still at the top of the list of required reading for many theology courses at universities and seminaries. Grudem served on the translation committee for the English Standard Version (ESV) of the Bible, yet his resumé of research and writing spans far beyond theology. He also wrote “Politics – According to the Bible” in 2017.
He sees one of two outcomes with Trump’s presidential campaign: Trump wins the Republican nomination and loses the general election, or he quits now.
If Trump backs out of the presidential campaign, Grudem claims that a “younger Republican” has a better chance of not only gaining the Republican nomination but also the general election.
Grudem predicted, “This new president will support policies similar to those that President Trump so effectively advocated.” Grudem concluded, “Therefore, Trump’s legacy will be secured. He will be remembered as a remarkable change agent who began to free us from the domination of a federal government that had become far too big and far too powerful.”
