Carranza, who is Jewish, wrote, “My faith tradition demands of me compassion, and I have it for my deceased daughter-in-law.” The suspect reportedly had a Palestine sticker on her rifle, but Carranza said it’s “reckless and irresponsible” to jump to conclusions about any motive. The suspect’s gender identity also has led to speculation and misinformation.
