YouVersion Had ‘Highest Day Ever for Daily Bible Use’ on Easter Sunday

The church had a record-breaking 164,600 people attend Easter services and 1,900 people “say yes to the grace of Jesus,” he reported. These numbers were physical attendance—not counting those viewing services online.

Groeschel shared the topic of the next sermon series: hearing and recognizing God’s voice. “The good news is Jesus has a promise for you,” Groeschel said. “He promises that he’s the Good Shepherd, that you are the sheep, and the promise is that the sheep will know the voice of the Shepherd.”

What Were the Top Bible Verses Shared on Easter Sunday?

Part of the functionality of the YouVersion app family is the ability to share easily key and meaningful verses with loved ones. A record “16.8 million people opened God’s Word through the YouVersion family of apps and 2.4 million verses were shared through the Bible App.”

While people shared passages from both the Old Testament and New Testament that day, app users chose three top verses to inspire others.

  1. Matthew 28:6: When Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to visit the tomb of Jesus, an angel of the Lord said to them, “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”
  2. Ephesians 6:11: As an encouragement and challenge to the church at Ephesus, the Apostle Paul wrote specific steps for Christians to take in preparation for daily battle as a follower of Christ. He began, “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
  3. Luke 24:6: On the day of Jesus’ resurrection, Luke’s account of that day was similar to Matthew’s. Angels spoke to the women who had visited the tomb that morning, “He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee…”
