Reid indicated he hadn’t felt the need to address Butker’s speech earlier because the kicker was expressing a personal opinion. “I let you guys in this room, and you have a lot of opinions that I don’t like,” the coach told journalists. Like Mahomes, Reid also pointed to freedom of expression as key to America’s greatness.

At the NFL’s spring meetings this week, Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league, like America, has “a diversity of opinions and thoughts.” He added, “That’s something that we treasure and that’s part of, I think, ultimately what makes us as a society better.”
