For the first time in the history of “The Chosen,” the entire fourth season premiered in theaters before it was released to be streamed for free.
This was an experience that Jenkins told ChurchLeaders “really can’t be beat.” Season 4 is “extremely emotional,” “heavy,” with a lot of “weighty” theological topics that raise “a lot of questions” and so “I think it’s great for people to see it together” on the big screen.

Jenkins provided an insight into the early filming of “The Chosen,” Season 5, which depicts “the most important and impactful week in the world which is the triumphal entry,” he said—”Holy Week.”
During the filming, which included hundreds and hundreds of “The Chosen” fans dressed in 1st century attire, Jenkins recalled “that first time that we kind of came over a hill and started heading towards the temple with 600 people waving palm branches, and cheering and chanting and singing. It was one of the most overwhelming moments of our lives.”
Jenkins said that experience left both the actors and crew members crying: “The extras who were there were crying because, for them, it’s real for them.”
“We get a chance to recreate the moment of worship when Jesus was identified publicly as King,” he added. “It was really special. I’ll never—we’ll never forget it.
