Daystar Television Network Removes All of Robert Morris’ Programming

Morris founded Gateway Church in 2000. Today, the church is one of the largest evangelical churches in the country, with more than 10 locations and an average weekly attendance of 100,000.

On Tuesday (June 18), Gateway Church’s elders announced Morris had resigned and shared that although they were aware that Morris was involved in an “extramarital relationship” prior to starting Gateway Church, they were unaware it involved a 12-year-old child.

Clemishire refuted the Gateway Church elders’ claim, saying that the leadership at Gateway Church “received actual notice of this crime” when she sent an email directly to Robert Morris’ Gateway email address. Clemishire indicated that “former Gateway elder Tom Lane received and responded to my email, acknowledging that the sexual abuse began on December 25, 1982, when I was 12 years old.”

Before Daystar’s announcement, Morris’ television program aired in nearly 200 countries. His radio program broadcast in more than 6,800 cities.

Gateway Church has removed Morris from the staff page of its website, but his sermons are still currently available on the church’s site and YouTube page.

Morris’ son, James, is currently listed as the only person under Gateway Church’s senior leadership staff. He holds the title of associate senior pastor.
