The second verse focuses on overcoming adversity with God’s help:

The brighter the heaven you get to enjoy
The harder the fall, the higher you soar
God opens a window when the devil closes the door
Believe me, they tried to bleed Will Smith
In the rear view I see adversity was the gift
To lift me higher, gifts require faith
So dry your eyes and then you’ll find the way

Out of the sadness into the rays
The darkest of nights will turn into day
And every storm runs out of rain
Hold on.

The song concludes: “Nobody gets an easy ride / We all have a cross to bear / But there’s wisdom in the fire / And every moment is an opportunity / Embrace the journey.”

Smith, who’s won four Grammy awards and a best actor Academy Award, gained fame as a hip hop artist in the 1990s. After starring on the TV show “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” he became a top-earning actor in blockbuster films. His last full-length album, “Lost and Found,” released in 2005.
