Buice said that no one associated with his ministry had any “prior knowledge of Steven Lawson’s sin.” Buice also indicated that G3 Ministries has removed all of Lawson’s resources from its website.

“I personally reached out to express my shock and sadness to Steven Lawson through an email, letting him know that we would be praying for him and for his repentance,” Buice shared. “I also informed him that we’d be removing him from all our events, effective immediately.”

Buice also addressed Lawson’s church membership. “Recently, more details have come out, with some claiming that Steven Lawson wasn’t a member of Trinity Bible Church,” Buice said, adding that this “information, circulated through podcasts and polemics websites, sparked confusion and critique on social media. Some even questioned our vetting process, suggesting that G3 Ministries has failed local churches.”

Buice said that he and G3 Ministries were “shocked” by such news. “For one,” he explained, “it didn’t align with my personal conversations and interactions with Steven Lawson. Secondly, we would never condone or knowingly platform someone who resisted membership in a local church.”

This led G3 Ministries to investigate, and the “information was incorrect,” Buice said. Buice stated that “Steven Lawson and his wife are indeed members of Trinity Bible Church.” Buice said he verified this information with two sources within Trinity Bible Church.

‘False Accusations Need To Be Stopped,’ Says Josh Buice

“It is not clear how these rumors began to spread,” he said. “But like a destructive wildfire, such false accusations need to be stopped.”

As Buice concluded his statement, he lamented over Lawson’s sin, warned Christians to engage in public dialogue biblically, and shared that G3 Ministries is evaluating its “internal vetting process” in the hope of avoiding this type of situation in the future.

“It’s important that we think the best of others, including the organizations connected with Steven Lawson’s ministry,” Buice said. “Before casting judgment on these organizations, schools, and ministries that partnered with him, it’s wise to gather the proper details, understand the nature of these partnerships, and consider the deception that allowed his sin to go unnoticed.”

Buice urged Christians to “avoid sin in our response to sin. Rumors and slander only provide further injury to the Lawson family, Trinity Bible Church, and other organizations who partnered with Steven Lawson in his public ministry.”

ChurchLeaders has reached out to Trinity Bible Church for clarification regarding Lawson’s church membership and position as lead preacher and will update this article in the event of a response.
