Kinzinger, who was one of only two Republicans to serve on the Select Committee to investigate the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, was also the first Republican to call for Gaetz’s resignation from Congress in 2021.
“Matt Gaetz is truly being suspected of sex with an underaged girl,” Kinzinger said in a social media post on Nov. 13. “I don’t know if you even call it sex—statutory rape?”
“Look, guys, this is not normal. I know, you voted for it. But this is a problem. Senate, you better stop some of this. Or literally years and years of norms and decency, out the window,” Kinzinger continued. “Faith leaders, you voted for this, some of you. Like, a guy who is being suspected of being with an underaged girl.”
