Brock Purdy Prays for the Holy Spirit’s Guidance
Purdy, who got married in March, has battled injuries this season. The 49ers have a 6-7 record, just one year after playing for a championship.
During media sessions for Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024, Purdy was asked what Bible verses had been guiding him lately. The QB said he had been studying Psalm 23 all season, focusing on how Jesus, his Good Shepherd, gives him everything he needs. Starting each day with Scripture, Purdy previously said, helps him focus on his goals of being “on fire for the Lord” and “living set apart from the world.”
When Sports Spectrum’s Jason Romano asked Purdy if he prays during games, the QB said he asks the Holy Spirit to “take over and lead me in this moment.” Instead of praying for victory, Purdy said he asks God to help him “think clearly” and “have an even-keeled state of mind.”
According to Purdy, the world’s views about him aren’t important. “The bottom line for me is that my identity is in Jesus,” said the QB. “And I’m gonna roll with that.”
