After a clip of Rife’s baptism story was shared on social media, fans posted encouraging messages.
“The Lord is working on him,” one fan wrote. Another added, “They just keep making fun of him. God loves you, Matt. Way to speak on what you believe.”
Netflix Releases Crowd Work Special Starring Matt Rife
This past August, Netflix released “Lucid: A Crowd Work Special,” its first-ever crowd work special, starring Rife. In the special, he interacts with audience members, using their personal stories to craft his comedy, which often features vulgar language.
For 54 minutes, Rife, using the topic of “Dreams,” delivers jokes about sexual acts, special education, and relationships. He also encouraged a gay man to follow his dream of becoming a stripper.

Netflix describes the Rife’s special as a “raunchy, witty, stand-up, social commentary, irreverent comedy.”
Matt Rife’s Previous Comments About Christianity
In 2017, Rife posted a photo on Instagram wearing a cross necklace and joked: “I wear a Jesus cross around my neck for the same reason regular dudes wear NBA player basketball jerseys—I’ve never met the guy, but I tell people I can dunk like him at LA Fitness.”
