Christian Conservatives React to the Tate Brothers’ Arrival
The Tate brothers’ arrival in Florida immediately caused an uproar. Many have expressed displeasure, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
In a press conference on Thursday, DeSantis acknowledged that the federal government “has jurisdiction” regarding the Tates’ admittance into the U.S., and he said that Florida’s attorney general “is looking at what state hooks and jurisdiction we may have.”
“But the reality is,” DeSantis said, “Florida is not a place where [Andrew and Tristan Tate are] welcome, with that type of conduct in the air.”
“And I don’t know how it came to this,” DeSantis added. “We were not involved. We were not notified. I found out through the media that this was something that was happening.”
Others took to social media to criticize the Trump administration, if indeed it was involved.
Joel Berry, managing editor for the Babylon Bee, said, “Looks like Trump made an exception to his ‘no rapists and sex traffickers crossing the border’ policy.”
Podcaster Allie Beth Stuckey said that while the Tate brothers “say things that we agree with…they have admitted to being pimps. They have admitted to rape. They have admitted to abuse.”
“I thought we were deporting sex criminals. I thought we were deporting the rapists,” she added.
Author Jennifer Greenberg said, “Freeing Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate is a complete betrayal of the American people.”
“Trump promised numerous times that he would deport and/or harshly punish human traffickers, rapists, and child predators,” Greenberg continued. “Tate publicly posts about being a human trafficker. He brags about abusing women and preying on girls. He taunts law enforcement.”
“If Trump now sides with the Tate brothers, all his claims to care about women and kids is a farce; a facade used to prosecute perverts who don’t align with him politically while sheltering predators he happens to like,” Greenberg added.
