On the Mercy Culture Prep website, the preschool through 12th-grade Christian school notes that health is one of its values: “We remain healthy by prioritizing daily personal encounters with God, pursuing purity, putting family first, and protecting our sabbath so we can lead others in health. Matthew 6:33, Proverbs 3:5-8.”
Only Vaccinations Can Prevent Measles
Measles, which U.S. officials declared eliminated in the year 2000, is one of the most contagious diseases that exist. Childhood MMR vaccines are the only way to prevent measles infection, according to epidemiologists.
New Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a vaccine skeptic, has suggested that the “food desert” in West Texas contributed to the measles outbreak. As potential remedies for the disease, he touts vitamin A and cod liver oil.
Dr. Jessica Malaty Rivera, an infectious disease epidemiologist, said Kennedy’s stance is “sowing additional doubt in vaccine confidence.” Although measles outbreaks aren’t infrequent in the United States, she noted, “Two months into 2025, this is our third outbreak, and it’s growing to be one of the worst.”
