In addition to Caviezel, IMDb lists Maia Morgenstern, who played Mary in the original film, and Francesco De Vito, who played Peter, as returning cast members.

In 2023, Caviezel told Shawn Ryan that he believes “The Passion of the Christ” sequel will be “the biggest film in history.”

“The Passion of the Christ” was nominated for three Academy Awards—Best Cinematography, Best Makeup, and Best Original Score—but failed to record a win.
