‘Hey Jesus’—Son of Backstreet Boys Singer Brian Littrell Performs Original Song on ‘American Idol’

With only an acoustic guitar in hand, Littrell approached the microphone and sang:

Hey, Jesus, I broke my wings again.
Could you help me up one last time old friend?
Oh, ’cause I surrender everything to you.
Oh, I try to fight all my battles without you by my side.
In the dark, depths of the night is where I’d be without your beautiful light.
Oh, give me wings to fly. 

“Bailey, you’re so good,” judge Carrie Underwood told Littrell. “Your heart and your genuineness [are] just coming through.”

Littrell was included in the group of contestants who will advance to the next round.
