Magee expressed that although the recent events have brought “sorrow,” the church remains “steadfast in our mission to be a light in the midst of darkness.” The pastor stated that the church’s “faith gives us hope and strength, and we draw comfort from the assurance that we will one day be reunited with Deacon Shed.”
The statement concluded by saying that Empowerment Ministries Christian Center continues to “lift in prayer those affected by this tragedy and stand together as a community, united in love and resilience.” He encouraged everyone to “hold each other close, support one another, and continue to be beacons of hope and love in our world.”
Church member Alexis Weathersby told local news station WLOX that Shed “died a hero doing what he does best, and that’s protecting and that’s loving and that’s looking out for everyone.” She said, “He was just a wonderful man that was willing to do any and everything for anyone.”
A celebration of life service for Shed will be held on Saturday, April 19, at 11:00 a.m. at Empowerment Ministries Christian Center. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help the Shed family.
