Nix continued, “Being a Christian, there is a lot of opinions that come with it. You know, ‘That’s not what a Christian should wear,’ or, ‘That Christian shouldn’t sing a song like that.’”
Despite some online criticism, Nix continues to perform, continues to advance further in the competition, and continues to praise God. Her growing fan base encourages her with comments along the way.
“YAAAAASSSSS! I was totally getting Adele vibes from your outfit and hair and it’s PERFECT for tonight!” one fan encouraged. “You’re gonna kill it!”
Another agreed, saying, “Without a shadow of doubt you are going to do a wonderful job!! And my Fingers are ready to vote so let’s goooooo #NixNation.”
Canaan James Hill Eliminated From ‘American Idol’
Seventeen-year-old aspiring preacher Canaan James Hill was sent home and didn’t advance further than the Top 10 of “American Idol.”
Hill chose to sing “Love Wins” by judge Carrie Underwood. Underwood was the one who encouraged Hill to break out of the gospel genre that had been so comfortable for him.
“Vocals were spot-on, but I think you cheated the system,” admitted Underwood, earlier [in] the competition. “I wanted to see you rock out! At some point, do something really unexpected.”
While some fans wanted Hill to continue singing solely gospel songs, some encouraged him as he took a risk singing an Underwood song.
“Thank you for NOT compromising on who you truly are! Hold your head high and know that you are exactly where God wants you to be,” encouraged one fan. “Be encouraged in knowing that THE BEST IS YET TO COME and it’s greater than AI!”
Another agreed, “God has His plans for you and I can’t wait to see where that takes you. Already, he used you to touch millions of lives across the country and the world. At 17 years old that is an awesome accomplishment.”
“God has used you already in mighty ways, and your journey is JUST BEGINNING!” said someone else. “You are going to go far because God has anointed you and what He ordains NO MAN can stop! You are so loved, and I can’t wait for your first album!”
