Telling these stories repeatedly over time would “account for a lot of things,” Rogan said, including “that God created the universe in six days.” He added:
Like what is the Big Bang, right? What is six days? What are you saying? What does that mean? Is it just a short amount of time?…Is that like 72 virgins? When [Muslims] say 72 virgins in heaven, they don’t really mean 72 virgins. It’s like a [lot]. … Like when you say God created the universe in six days, maybe…that’s the Big Bang. Maybe you’re literally talking about the birth of the universe in a very short period of time. Just boom!
An ancient person who tried to recall that story might say, “Yeah, on this day this happened, this day that happened,” said Tucker. “But ultimately, it’s just day after day after day, and then seven day, you rest.”
Rogan said, “People were talking about it for thousands of years, and then someone wrote it down on clay tablets thousands of years later. These are just the memories of some ancient knowledge.”
After Tucker said all myths start with darkness and light, Rogan said, “What if that’s their version of the description of the Big Bang? That’s how you describe the Big Bang to someone who has no concept of science.”
