Dee Parsons, a former Dallas resident who now lives in North Carolina, called Smith when the Morris story came to light. “I’m gonna write a story [that] I think may get some attention,” she told her fellow blogger. “Can you go down to Gateway, take some pictures?”
Not only did Smith do that, Parsons said, but she also made a TikTok video about the scandal that has been viewed more than 500,000 times. Morris, who resigned last June, has pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual assault.
“I have got this thing inside me that says, ‘I can’t let go when all these folks are asking for help,’” Parsons said of her advocacy efforts. “Jesus once said that there are wolves [who] are gonna appear like sheep. And as long as I’m able, I’m gonna keep going.”
“I’ll probably die in front of my computer someday, getting ready to do the next story,” she added. “But I’m gonna continue.”
