“We are grateful to report that the investigation found no evidence of any illegal activity by him while employed at Preston Trail,” the statement added.

“Like many of you, we are shocked and heartbroken by this news,” said the pastors. “We know it raises serious questions and concerns, and we are committed to responding with transparency and integrity.”
The statement went on to say that the executive team of Preston Trail Community Church was informed by authorities in April that charges against Mustain were forthcoming, at which point the church sought an independent investigation.
In his role with the church, Mustain did not have any responsibilities related to overseeing the children or youth programs.
According to his Linkedin profile, Mustain served as a pastor of community and life transformation for Valley Ranch Baptist Church in Coppell, Texas, from 2005-2014 and served as an associate pastor at New Life Bible Church in Oklahoma City from 1999-2005.
In an email to The Dallas Morning News, Valley Ranch Baptist Church said it had no prior knowledge of any behavior related to the charges against Mustain, adding that the church was not aware of any children from the church who were “involved or harmed.”

Mustain remains in custody. His bond has been set at $500,000.
