CrossPointe Community Church: ‘Our Hope Is in the Lord’

In a media statement on Sunday, CrossPointe thanked people for their support and requested continued prayers—including for Browning’s family.

The suspect’s mother has been a member of the church for months, according to Pastor Kelly. “She was recently baptized at one of our services, I believe in October of last year,” he said. “We’ve been knowing her for many years.”

CrossPointe is closed this week for repairs and cleaning. One parishioner told reporters that the gunman reloaded his automatic rifle “twice, maybe three times.” Pointing to parts of the church, Larry Ward said, “The bullets came through and busted all the AC lines, went through here.”

On Monday, Pastor Pugh changed the church’s outdoor sign to read: “Our hope is in the Lord.”
