In a statement given to WFLA, Lloyd Bertine accused Nancy Bertine of “falsifying the records of what was being purchased” and said that as a result, the church “never knew” about the fraudulent purchases.

Lloyd Bertine has kept the Gulf to Lake congregation abreast of the situation and told WFLA, “We all have agreed to pray for her and pray that something will be learned.”

“If every minister had their own church issued credit card, we’re not going to do that anymore, it’ll be central,” Lloyd Bertine said.

Nancy Bertine is set to appear in court on Aug. 8.
