In a joint press release, DestinyLife Church and Claremore Christian School said, “On Wednesday afternoon, DestinyLife Church leadership was informed of the arrest of staff member Kendrick Oakley on multiple counts related to ‘Peeping Tom’ offenses.”
The church said that leaders were unaware of the accusations against Oakley until the church received a media inquiry following Oakley’s arrest.
The release explained that Oakley had recently been elected to the board of Claremore Christian School but had not yet attended any board meetings or been involved with any leadership decision.
“In light of these developments, the DestinyLife Church body gathered Wednesday evening to process the difficult news,” the press release said. “Following that meeting, the CCS Board took immediate action to remove Mr. Oakley from the board. He will have no future involvement in any CCS activities or operations.”
“Following a biblical model of church discipline, Kendrick Oakley has been dismissed from serving as an elder and as a member of the church staff,” the press release added.
Glenn Shaffer, lead pastor of DestinyLife Church, said, “This is heartbreaking news. Our greatest concern is for the victim and their family, as well as for those in our church and school communities who are impacted.”
