Overly Exposed and Overly Anxious: Building Resiliency in America’s Youth Against Virtual Messages

American systems are equally responsible for protecting and fostering resiliency in the next generation. As research continually confirms the risk factors of technology for teenagers’ mental health, educational and legislative measures should be continually advocated for. More awareness initiatives on anxiety and technology for youth development can be made available. 

State and national attempts to curb accessibility, such as Florida Govenor Ron DeSantis’ recent bill that prevents adolescents under 14from owning social media accounts can be used to protect teenage mental health.  With both the family system as the leaders teamed up with the support of American governmental structures alongside them, the anxiety of our youth can and needs to be addressed for a stronger and healthier next generation.
