A Trump promoting conservative political group made waves on MLK Day when they portrayed a quote of the iconic civil rights leader as supportive of the riot on the U.S. Capitol last year.

From calls to pass voting rights legislation to assertions that those charged in connection with the insurrection are being mistreated, vigils remembered the attack on the U.S. Capitol differently.

Amid the chaos, Jan. 6 was an outpouring of religious expression, especially prayer.

On January 6, 2021, an armed crowd forcefully entered the Capitol Building to stop Congress from certifying the 2020 election results. One year later, many evangelicals continue to deny the significance of the event.

On Thursday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced “a full program of events” to commemorate January 6, including a prayer vigil on the steps of the Capitol Building.

Far from showing remorse about the events of January 6, former president Donald Trump seemed to side with the crowds who were chanting "Hang Mike Pence" that day.

A conservative Catholic media outlet seeking to stage a rally during a U.S. bishops' meeting in Baltimore claims city officials canceled the event because of its religious message. The city says the gathering threatens public safety, claiming the fringe group cheered on U.S. Capitol rioters in January.

Mike Pence is a “Judas," said Pastor Greg Locke, who made the comment shortly after a speech in which Pence said that he and Trump still do not “see eye to eye” on what happened on January 6.
