There was a time when Lutherans were recognized as the advocates for Indigenous peoples, according to Vance Blackfox, director for Indigenous ministries and tribal relations for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

We are to confess our sin to God and trust Him to forgive us (1 John 4:9). My experience as a pastor and professor, though, has shown that some sins are tougher to recognize and confess.

We must be careful not to claim promises like 2 Chronicles 7 that either aren’t our own or which don’t go far enough in their glorious fulfillment. Because doing this will disappoint our hope and cause us to think God hasn’t come through.
