The service at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, September 15, 2019, may have been back to church Sunday, but there was another reason the congregation saw a surge of people visiting.

I have to admit I was a little skeptical about attending a Kanye Sunday Service. What I saw and heard surprised me.

Pastor Rich Wilkerson, Jr., of VOUS Church in Miami, preached a sermon this week at the latest Kanye West Sunday service. While Wilkerson’s message contained some important truths, some might be troubled by the absence of a key part of the gospel message: that Jesus saves us from our sins.

Kanye West has been holding what he calls "Sunday service." These are exclusive and private gatherings featuring gospel music. But this past Easter Sunday, he held one such service publicly at the popular music festival, Coachella. And people's reactions to this "service" can teach us a lot.
