Traditional Plan

At the Mississippi Annual Conference, seven UMC churches were approved to disaffiliate from the denomination out of disagreement with the church's stance toward LGBT individuals. One, however, had a reason that was slightly surprising.

For some churches, resistance will mean violating the Book of Discipline. For others, resistance might take a more subtle form, such as displaying a banner that says “We Are a Welcoming Church” or perhaps something more blatant.  

The Wesleyan Covenant Association is preparing an exit strategy in the event the UMC will vote to loosen its policy concerning homosexuality at the General Conference in February.
