The senior pastor of an influential Chicagoland megachurch has tested positive for COVID-19. Willow Creek’s Global Leadership Summit was held on Aug. 4-5.

Popular Christian author Shauna Niequist has apologized for her silence following the allegations against her father, Bill Hybels, the founding pastor of suburban Chicago megachurch Willow Creek Community Church.

Dave Dummitt is the founding pastor of 2|42 Community Church in Michigan, which grew from a 35-member launch team meeting in Dave’s living room to more than 10,000 people meeting at seven different campuses each weekend.

In what they say will be their final Bill Hybels update, the elders of Willow Creek announced on Friday that they have tried reaching out to Hybels, urging him “to reflect on his years in ministry, repent where necessary, and seek to live out the ministry of reconciliation.”
