Responding to the Current Scandal

As the scandal around Michael Tait and Newsboys continues to make headlines, we must confront it and lament. As we support those who were victimized, we must commit to learning from yet another painful lesson. Whenever well-known Christians engage in immoral or abusive behavior, the world takes notice. We must respond with humility, repentance, and a renewed commitment to integrity.

While days like this discourage us, they also provide an opportunity for reflection and growth. As Christians, we must first examine our own hearts, our own relationships, and our own accountability. Are we fostering a culture that allows for unchecked power? Are we prioritizing celebrity over sanctification? Are we willing to address these issues before they become scandals? Are we courageous enough to bring “open secrets” truly into the open? 

At the end of the day, the goal is not just to prevent public scandals—it is to cultivate a church that truly loves people and honors Christ in all things. May we learn from these failures, seek the Lord’s grace, and work toward a Christian culture where moral integrity is the norm, not the exception.
