Empowering Young Leaders (cont.)

6. Encourage faith growth through leadership.

Next, remind teens that leadership roles can help them grow closer to God. Leading others challenges young people to rely on Jesus. Share verses like Proverbs 3:5-6. Teach teens to pray before making decisions. Also model how to seek God’s direction and wisdom in leadership roles.

7. Gradually increase responsibilities.

Leadership development is a process. Begin with small tasks. Then build toward greater responsibilities as teens gain confidence and skills. For example, have them greet worshipers, set up for events, or assist with tech duties.

After teens excel in smaller tasks, ramp up the jobs. Gradual responsibility lets kids grow without feeling overwhelmed.

8. Celebrate successes and milestones.

Recognizing achievements motivates teens. Plus, it shows that their efforts matter. Celebrate individual and group accomplishments. You can host a formal celebration event each spring. But also share stories during church services about teens’ impact. Include prayers to thank God for young people’s efforts.

9. Inspire teens to be role models.

Last but not least: Empowered young leaders inspire peers to follow suit. So challenge teens to influence others positively. Remind them that their actions, words, and attitudes should reflect Christ. Tell them to be intentional about all their interactions. Also challenge older teens to mentor younger ones. This creates a cycle of vibrant church leaders.

Empowering young leaders is about more than assigning tasks. It’s about nurturing talents along with humility and purpose. Thanks for equipping teens to lead in the church and community. You—and they—are making a lasting impact for God’s kingdom!
