Christian speaker and author Dr. Christopher Yuan is moving his arms and legs following a successful surgery on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
The “Holy Sexuality and the Gospel” author experienced paralysis from the neck down following an accident that occurred while Yuan was using an inversion table.
“He fell upside down on the teeter inversion table with a heavy swing and that heavy machine fell on his chest,” a social media post explained. “It is not a normal fall.”
An update was posted on social media Tuesday night that shared, “Christopher is out of surgery and recovering in good spirits.”
“The surgeon says the operation was successful, and Christopher already has some movement in his hands, arms and toes, as well as some feeling in his legs,” the update continued. “He will be going later this week to rehab for 2-4 weeks, and will likely need rehab from home for 4-6 months.”

“Once again,” it added, “we thank you all! We are overwhelmed by all of the love and prayers. God is so good!”
The post thanked everyone for their support asked for continued prayers, specifically that “Christopher will regain full mobility and movement of his legs.”
The post also shared that Yuan himself asked that people “pray that through this situation many more people will come to know Jesus and the gospel!”
Many, including North American Mission Board’s (NAMB) Trevin Wax, left replies on Yuan’s post. Wax wrote, “So thankful to hear this answer to prayer. Will continue to pray for full recovery in the difficult weeks ahead.”
