YouVersion’s verse of the year for 2025 was Isaiah 41:10, announced the ministry in a press release Thursday, Dec. 4. Notably, this same verse was the Bible app’s most-engaged verse in four out of the past six years, a fact YouVersion called “a testament to the enduring need for God’s reassurance in uncertain times.”

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God,” says Isaiah 41:10. “I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

“I think this verse keeps rising to the top because it addresses one of our deepest needs, the assurance that we’re not alone,” said Bobby Gruenewald, YouVersion’s founder and CEO. “In a world full of anxiety and uncertainty, people are drawn to God’s promise to be with us, to strengthen us, and to help us. That message never gets old because the need for it is universal and timeless.”

YouVersion Sees ‘Unprecedented Growth’

On Nov. 17, YouVersion celebrated achieving the historic milestone of 1 billion downloads across its family of apps. “I never imagined God was going to do this with it,” Gruenewald told ChurchLeaders in August, referring to the upcoming milestone. “And it’s obviously a God story and something that he’s done. And we’ve just been privileged and humbled to be a part of it.”

While last year’s top verse was not Isaiah 41:10, it is interesting that the top verse of 2024 mentions not being anxious. Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

In its press release, YouVersion said that 2025 has been a “year of unprecedented growth” and that there have been a number of other milestones in addition to the achievement of reaching a billion downloads. On Jan. 5, YouVersion saw a new record in Bible engagement

That record was broken on Easter Sunday, with 19 million people engaging with the Bible on YouVersion’s apps. However, the “largest day for Bible engagement in YouVersion history” so far was Nov. 2, a marker of YouVersion’s “unprecedented momentum in the second half of this year.”

YouVersion believes data from the past year demonstrates there is a growing spiritual hunger across the globe, as Bible engagement grew in 2025 in every region of the world.

Among the other top verses searched by people around the world was Jeremiah 29:11, which says, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
