There are days when life is tough. Things at work aren’t going well. There’s tension at home. Maybe there are issues with people in your congregation or small group. Whatever the problem, it can be easy to feel swallowed up by stress, frustration; maybe even anger. Sometimes, the last thing we want to do is laugh.
But laughter is one of the ways God’s given us to help us deal with difficult things. It helps relieve stress, and it can clear away some of the mental fog that comes with a bad day. Beyond that, the Mayo Clinic says laughter also does the following for long-term health:
- It can improve your immune system
- It helps the body create its own pain relievers
- It increases personal satisfaction
Even Proverbs says that a joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. So, take a moment to watch one of these videos or read one of these tweets. Do yourself (and your health) a favor and laugh a little.
