According to an update posted on the website of Grace to You, Matt MacArthur—the eldest child of late pastor and Bible teacher John MacArthur—is now the ministry’s president. John MacArthur, longtime pastor of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, died in July at age 86.
Matt MacArthur, the oldest of John’s four children, had served as a longtime Grace to You board member and is vice chairman of the John MacArthur Charitable Trust. He’s also a graduate and board member of The Master’s University, which his father founded.
Matt MacArthur Is Now President of Grace to You
Matt MacArthur began the ministry update by thanking people for their “love, encouragement, and prayer” since his father’s death. “Your partnership in this ministry has always meant more than you know, and never more so than now,” he wrote.

“I’ve had the great privilege of serving alongside my dad for many years and of sitting on the Grace to You board for more than 25 years,” MacArthur said. “I want you to know that I am more committed than ever to the work God entrusted to us through my father.”
Matt MacArthur continued:
Alongside Phil Johnson, Jay Flowers, and our remarkable leadership team, I consider it a profound honor to lead Grace to You into the future. We are confident that this ministry, by God’s grace, will continue to bear fruit for decades—faithfully declaring the truth of God’s Word to the ends of the earth.
Matt MacArthur: Our ‘Mission Will Not Change’
In the Grace to You update, Matt MacArthur emphasized that the ministry will continue to honor his father’s legacy of Bible-based teaching. He wrote:
Grace to You exists to unleash God’s truth, one verse at a time—a mission anchored in our steadfast commitment to Scripture and carried forward by my father’s faithful preaching of the Word for over 56 years. That mission will not change. We are not looking for an alternative voice or a different teacher. Our purpose remains clear: to preserve John MacArthur’s teaching ministry and make it available to as many people as possible, worldwide, for generations to come.
Thanks to John MacArthur’s prolific preaching, said son Matt, “Grace to You can keep producing new broadcasts for decades to come.” The ministry’s archive contains about 3,600 sermons, he noted, including hundreds that have not yet aired.
“We intend to keep doing precisely what we have always done, for as long as the Lord permits,” wrote Matt MacArthur, “and for as long as friends like you want to hear and support our ministry.”
In addition, MacArthur noted that the organization is translating “at least 600 essential sermons from the Grace to You archive into as many languages as possible.” The goal, he added, is to “continue that work until the entire world has access to this amazing body of teaching” from John MacArthur.
