Sight & Sound is releasing a filmed version of its sold-out live theater hit “NOAH” to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the production that helped the storytelling company discover its calling.
According to a press release, “Sight & Sound is a storytelling company passionate about bringing true stories of redemption to life on stage and on screen that reveal the power of the Gospel.”
“Since its beginning as a traveling multi-media show in 1976, Sight & Sound has inspired over 30 million people with stories from the pages of scripture and history,” says the release. “Today, Sight & Sound operates two live-theater venues, immersing over a million people each year in state-of-the-art original productions.”
In 2020, Sight & Sound launched an online streaming service, which reaches 175 countries.
Katie Miller, Sight & Sound’s director of brand development, spoke with ChurchLeaders and shared why the company decided to bring “NOAH” to the silver screen.

“‘NOAH’ is very special to us because it first premiered here on stage in Lancaster, [Pennsylvania], in 1995,” Miller said, sharing that “NOAH” helped Sight & Sound discover its calling of producing “big spectacular Bible stories.”
Before “NOAH,” Sight & Sound had been doing revue-style shows. “We’re in our 30th anniversary of ‘NOAH’ first premiering, and we’re recognizing that it is just as powerful today as it was 30 years ago and has become a multi-generational experience,” said Miller.
“We keep getting emails and letters and comments from people who are like, ‘”NOAH” was the first show I saw, and now I’m bringing my kids back,'” Miller continued. Others have said, “I remember my grandparents bringing me, and now I’m bringing my grandkids to come.”
“We’ve been wildly sold-out all year long, which is a great problem to have, and we know that there are people all across the country that can’t come to see it,” she added. “So we’re taking this show in [a] big, spectacular way into movie theaters to hopefully make it a lot more accessible for people.”
“NOAH” has over 100 live animals and over 100 animatronic animals in the show. “It absolutely gets hectic” at times, Miller shared.
