Preschool Praise & Worship Ideas (cont.)
5. Story-Based Worship
Read a simple Bible account. Then use short songs or chants that reinforce the theme. After telling about David and Goliath, for example, sing about God’s strength. Tie in Philippians 4:13. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
6. Sensory Worship
Use soft scarves, textured fabrics, or scented oils (like lavender) for a multi-sensory worship experience. This is particularly helpful for tactile learners who engage best through touch and smell.
7. Nature Worship
If possible, take worship outside! Sing praises while feeling the breeze, hearing birds, and seeing the beauty of God’s creation. Read Psalm 19:1. “The heavens declare the glory of God.”
8. Prayer Balloons
Write simple praise words (“Jesus,” “Love,” “Thank You”) on balloons. Let children gently bat them around while singing, then hold them and say a prayer of thanks. This reinforces thankfulness and prayer in an interactive way.
Biblical Foundations for Preschool Worship
Teaching young children to worship isn’t just about fun activities. It’s about laying a foundation for a lifelong relationship with God. The Bible encourages children to praise God.
- Psalm 8:2: “From the lips of children and infants, you have ordained praise.”
- Matthew 21:16: Jesus affirmed children’s worship. He said, “From the lips of children and infants, you, Lord, have called forth your praise.”
- Psalm 150:6: “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
Preschool praise and worship should be joyful and Bible-based. With movement, visual aids, and sensory elements, children’s ministers and Sunday school teachers can help little ones connect with God. Blessings as you nurture a heart of worship in even the youngest of believers!
