Wickham encouraged the church that now is the time to rise up and preach Jesus. “I just see God working in a new and special way,” he said, “and the church needs to rise up in love and humility and preach him like nothing else matters” but knowing the gospel.
The “What an Awesome God” singer spoke about the tragic shooting that took place Sunday morning at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints location in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
“It’s just brokenness all over. The Darkness has always been here, but man, we have been face to face with it in ways I don’t remember,” Wickham lamented. He shared that he has been “crying out to Jesus” to “help” and “save us.”
“[Jesus] is our only solution, you guys, he’s the only solution,” Wickham said as he urged Christians to share the gospel:
What he’s done is he’s put inside of everyone of us who call him by name, his Holy Spirit, the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you and me to be his Plan A. We are Jesus’ Plan A for a broken and dying world to see hope and life and to be healed. And so we as a church, you guys, with so much love and so much grace and so much humility, we need to preach his cross and preach his gospel. We need to tell people our testimony, [about] how Jesus saved our lives. Life is such a gift, every breath is a gift, and I don’t want to waste it. I know you don’t want to [as well], but that’s clarified to me, not to waste one day. Let’s get people ready for heaven. Let’s get our hearts ready for heaven.
