2 LA Dodgers Pitchers Outspoken About Their Faith

Both Blake Treinen and Clayton Kershaw are successful MLB pitchers. They’re also strong Christians living out their faith on and off the field.

Pitcher Blake Treinen wants to “make heaven crowded” as he openly shares his faith and attempts to help others “see Christ’s greatness.”

“Every single one of us [has] been given a gift, and our way of repaying it to the Lord is, how do we honor him with that gift?” Treinen said. “When I am welcomed into the gates of heaven, I want to hear, ‘Job well done, good and faithful servant.’”

Clayton Kershaw has officially retired from baseball after winning his third World Series. Kershaw announced back in September that this would be his last season.

Kershaw quoted Colossians 3:23 in his retirement announcement, which says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as you’re working for the Lord, not for men.”

“I’m really at peace with this. It’s just emotional,” Kershaw said.

The outspoken Christian hasn’t been supportive of the Dodgers’ Pride events. When required to wear Pride merchandise, Kershaw added the Scripture reference from Genesis 9:12-16. In this passage, God explains the covenantal meaning behind the first rainbow.

Kershaw had left his future as a baseball player in God’s hands back in 2018.

“God gave me the ability to throw a baseball. He chose me for a reason, and I want to honor him with that,” he said.
