Family members testified to Goodwin’s lack of technical knowledge and provided evidence that Goodwin was not in proximity to the device when digital records show that some of the files had been modified.

After deliberating for less than two hours, the jury delivered a not guilty verdict on all charges.

Following the verdict, Goodwin’s son, Michael Goodwin, said, “We had put this in the Lord’s hand, and we knew. So just tears of, ‘Thank you, Jesus.’”

“This has been weighing heavy for over a year,” said Michael. “We’ve had to wait for it—the truth to come out. It’s hard, it’s difficult, and it’s just like the weight of the world was taken off your shoulders in that moment, in that one moment.”
