Conservatives Blame Antifa for Violence at TPUSA Event
Andy Ngo, author of “Unmasked: Inside Antifa’s Radical Plan To Destroy Democracy,” claimed that the group By Any Means Necessary organized the Berkeley protest. He also said protesters were “chanting in celebration of Charlie Kirk’s m-rder.”
People on both sides of the political aisle spoke to CBS News about Monday’s event and protests. Andrew Simmalaychanh, a junior at UC Berkeley, said he was protesting “to protect the rights of so many people and fight against hatred and bigotry.”
Lily, also a junior, said of Kirk, “Knowing what he did, and knowing the things he was saying was just vile and disgusting, so we don’t want to support his organization.” She added that UC Berkeley shouldn’t have allowed TPUSA on campus.

Others attended the event to support Kirk’s message. Lisa Disbrow, with Moms for Liberty of Contra Costa County, said it’s important to proclaim “that marriage is a blessing, that children are a blessing, that being educated isn’t a singular ideology.”
Isaiah Larceval, a high school student who traveled to Berkeley for the TPUSA stop, called Kirk “a great influence on my life.” Kirk taught him “how to live as a man and a godly man,” he added. “I’m really blessed we were able to get a ticket.”
