Jelly Roll Invited To Join Grand Ole Opry
Jelly Roll was getting emotional recounting his experience performing at the Vatican. It was then that Rogan played him footage from the first time Jelly Roll was at the Grand Ole Opry. In that footage, Jelly Roll described what the music of country artist Craig Morgan meant to him throughout Jelly Roll’s journey from incarceration to stardom.
“In that jail cell, I found strength in country music,” Jelly Roll told the crowd in the footage. “I used to listen to Craig Morgan sing ‘Almost Home’ in my jail cell and think, ‘I’m going to change my life when I get home.’”
After the footage was over, the country artist was fully moved to tears. “You tricked me again,” said Jelly Roll, telling Rogan he had thought the podcast was about to end before Rogan played the video.
“I’m gonna show you something else, too,” said Rogan, who then played a pre-recorded video of Craig Morgan speaking to Jelly Roll.

“You’re doing great work, buddy. And I’ll never forget meeting you on the Grand Ole Opry and how much it meant to me to hear you say my music helped you get through some really tough times,” Morgan said. “That’s one thing country music does really well.”
“And who would have ever dreamed back then that I’d be back at the Opry house today to say, ‘Jelly Roll, you’re officially invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry,’” said Morgan. “It’s an honor to say, ‘Welcome to the family, brother.’”
As he heard Morgan’s invitation, Jelly Roll threw off his headphones and put his face in his hands, crying. Even Rogan became emotional, and the two hugged each other. “I love you,” said Jelly Roll.
“I love you too, brother,” said Rogan.
“I didn’t even dream of it,” said Jelly Roll as they closed out the episode. “God will make things bigger than your dreams.”
