During a recent interview, Jenny McCarthy discussed her conservative values and said she “completely surrendered” to Jesus after Charlie Kirk was murdered. Although the 53-year-old actor has “always been a follower of Christ,” she said the September assassination of conservative commentator Kirk caused her to become “so devoted” to Jesus.

On the Dec. 11 episode of “Culture Apothecary,” host Alex Clark asked McCarthy about her activism and her views about Hollywood, which led to conversations about values and faith. The actor, who was raised Catholic, said she has “a very deep relationship with God.” McCarthy explained, “Some people have to work really hard to hear him. I’ve got a direct line. I mean, Jesus is my homie.”

Jenny McCarthy, a former Playboy model, became a parental-rights activist after her son was diagnosed with autism. While reading that kids can recover from that condition, she said, she felt “the most godly energy” and then discovered “my purpose.” After McCarthy asked God to heal her son, she promised him, “I will teach the world how I did it, but lead me there.”

The actor and “Masked Singer” judge, who said she lost work due to her anti-vaccine stance, credited God with providing for her and her son. The bullying she experienced likely drove Hollywood’s conservatives into hiding, McCarthy said. She described embracing “conservative values” such as “questioning authority, less government control, [being] closer to God.”

Shortly after Charlie Kirk’s death, McCarthy shared video of herself praising God to Kari Jobe’s song “The Blessing.” Fighting back tears, the actress said of the assassination, “It was so sad because the work he was doing was so good.” It’s unfortunate that “a certain group of people…were fed only one narrative of Charlie,” McCarthy added. “If you know what Charlie was doing, you would know it was such a gift.”

The actress said she could relate to Kirk because she also receives threats and has needed courage—and the “armor of God”—to stand up and “tell [her] truths.” After Kirk’s murder, “I was so broken,” McCarthy admitted. “I prayed and prayed and prayed, and then I was calling like every doctor I possibly could, saying, ‘Tell me that this wound is something that could be healed.’”

McCarthy realized, “With every horrible thing, if you find the good, it can help you move forward.” About the aftermath of Kirk’s death, she said, “Look at the mass awakening. Look at how many people came closer to God, even including myself.”

McCarthy said she “started Bible study immediately” after Kirk was killed. She also recommended the Duomo devotional app, noting that she and husband Donnie Wahlberg “have become devout since Charlie’s passing.” When asked if the two actors attend church together, McCarthy replied that they currently “live in different countries because of work” but “attend different things.”
